Another day of the same old thing.
Peter updated our computer so that it run faster. This means that I've lost all my favorite websites and have to remember what they all were. I've been driving bus since March 9th and haven't had any problems...knock on wood. I've driven three sports events, one to Yakima, another to Naches, and the last one was to Granger. It's been interesting driving to these events and not knowing where I'm going. This Saturday, I'm going to be driving to Spokane for a softball game. Chelleigh and Emma are going to meet me there for a visit. Should be fun. Just getting ready to do the afternoon route.

Driving a Bus...all legal now.
It's been three weeks since I got my CDL license and I have been driving ever since. I've even done two trips, one for the high school track team to Yakima and the other for the boy's soccer team to Naches. I really do love driving the bus. This week is spring break and after that, I'll be doing another route...more changes happening and I get to fill in where needed.

Update
OK. I don't have the CDL license yet...just the permit. But it will be worth having once I get the license. That way, if we move, I can get a job driving bus.
CDL license
I FINALLY PASSED!!! It only took two times, but that's OK. I start learning the bus on Monday. A big thanks out to Phyllis Quinton for being a great instructor.

Loving instead of criticising
I find that there are times when my life is such an open book that anyone looking at it, would be sick as to what they find inside. Today, Bishop Nielson spoke to some of the RS sisters about showing love, but it started with a story of a women who was about to lose everything because she was very critical of those around her. As he read this story, I was seeing into my own life and how I treat my family. After discussing this with Peter, we realized that I was doing the same thing as my parents had done to me and this is the way that they treat Peter. The little girl inside of me is struggling to deal with this. I'll call her Kary. I was given the name Kary Christmas 'cause my mother would say "Karen, Christmas is coming." I know she meant it as an encouragement to get moving, but it really labeled me as a procrastinator and a true SHE (sidetracked home executive). I have a hard time dealing with my children from the time they come home from school to the time they leave again in the morning. I struggle to love them. Don't get me wrong, I do love them, I just don't know how to show that love to them. The bishop said that if we are struggling with the criticism, that he releases us from being critical. It is now time to love our family. He explained that this means not saying bad things about someone, actually doing one-on-one activities, saying things like, "I love you. Good job. I'm so proud of you." I see my children being angry with each other and I know that it is a reflection of how I treat them. Kary and I are going to have some heart to heart discussions about what is appropriate language to use when talking to family members, ask forgiveness from those we've offended and learn to be forgiving and understanding of others.

Applying for Scholarships
Well, I've begun the process of applying for scholarships. I've applied with Kennewick General Hospital online, as well as requested information from Kadlac and saved an application for Lourdes. I've also signed up at scholarships.com for scholarship information. I really hope and pray that someone is willing to help. I'm not sure how we will survive the next 2 1/2 years till we get an income of some kind coming in.
Applied for College
I finally did it! I applied for college yesterday at Columbia Basin College here in Pasco. I paid the $28.30 for the general application fee and the $29.00 for the nursing application fee. I am so nervous about going back to school. I also sent off for my transcript from EWU. I sent off for Grays Harbor earlier this week. I now just need my high school transcript...guess I need to make a trip into Connell today. To bad they are not open on Saturday. I could just get one when I take the kids to basketball camp. Now my next worry is find ways to finance this new experience.
The first person I called was my sister, Wendy. She was really excited to hear that I actually did something to better my life. Then I called my husband. He was excited, too. I guess I'm doing the right thing after all.
